Cheese scones
Ingredients:
150g plain flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
pepper and mustard (I don't use mustard as I don't have mustard powder)
25g margarine or butter
75g grated cheese (cheddar or red leicester)
1 egg
50ml milk
Method:
1 - mix flour and seasonings, rub in fat
2 - stir in cheese, reserving a little for the tops
3 - mix the egg and milk,(reserve a little for the tops) add to the flour
to make a soft dough
4 - roll out to a round, just over 1cm thick
5 - cut into 8 triangles
6 - place on a greased baking tray, brush with egg and milk and sprinkle
with grated cheese
7 - bake in a hot oven (220c/gas mark 7) for 10-15 minutes
